The Company

Robert Half is working on an exclusive basis with a leading FMCG/Retail business based in Riyadh. My client is looking to recruit a Finance Director for their Saudi operation.

Role

You will provide leadership to his management team colleagues on all matters relating to financial performance and business strategy. As the leader of the finance function you will be responsible for financial management and reporting, legal compliance, and the management of risk. To achieve this, he will develop the operating model of finance to deliver a cost efficient and high quality level of service to the business. He will be a strategic partner with the CEO in creating and delivering shareholder value, and representing the management with its private equity investors.

Key Responsibilities

As management team member, present to colleague's information, analysis and recommendations for decision making on issues that drive financial performance and value of the company:

  • Annual business plans and short, medium and long term forecasts of income statement, balance sheet and cashflow, reflecting the business' strategy
  • Annual budgets, with monthly analysis of variance to budget enable mitigating actions, if necessary
  • Monthly operating results and appropriate breakdowns thereof
  • Manage banking relationships and monitoring of cash flows and highlighting any risks of default in payment of principal and/or interest, including penalties on late payments and other dues to creditors, banks, financial institutions
  • Failure to recover material amounts of loans, advances, and deposits made by the company, including trade debts and inter corporate finances

Financial management and fiduciary responsibilities:

  • Reporting and accounting as per regulatory and legal requirements including taxation, dividends, annual report and accounts
  • Ensuring that accounting policies have been applied in preparation of financial statements, and that accounting estimates are based on reasonable and prudent judgment
  • Reporting of financial results and business outlook to shareholders and investors
  • Communication and liaison with investment community, business analysts and business/financial media, as required
  • Ensure responsibilities towards shareholders are met, including production of board information packs, including monthly integrated financial statements that present accurately the state of the company's affairs, results of its operation , balance sheet and cash flows, as well as commentary on results and analysis of variance to budget and rolling reforecasts, and a cadence of daily and weekly operational and financial results reporting to complement these
  • Partner with the CEO and management team in developing the business strategy and development plans to grow the value of the company:
  • Setting the priorities and agenda for the company
  • Analysis of business opportunities in existing and new markets
  • Source and execute potential M&A opportunities
  • Optimise capital structure to support growth
  • Assist in identifying cost saving initiatives, and procurement team in negotiating with suppliers
  • Lead, manage and continue to develop a world class finance organisation:
  • Lead and develop the accounting, payroll, FP&A, treasury, compliance and corporate finance functions
  • Lead negotiations and relations with external stakeholders and partners
  • Accurate accounting and reporting of monthly closing, year-end closing and collaboration with auditors
  • Develop and deliver first class management information for the steering of P&L performance including implementation of a business intelligence platform
  • Provide business partnership to management team colleagues and their teams, through providing decision support, analysis and information; improve visibility and understanding of financial results
  • Provide high quality information and analysis in support of priorities and initiatives
  • Maintain a register of risks and implement policies, processes and practices to manage risks across regions, markets and functions
  • Recruit, train, mentor and develop the finance staff and create a succession pipeline of financial and business talent
  • Set the standards of competence for all finance professionals, and develop programmes to further the development and performance of the finance organisation

Candidate

  • 15-20 years-experience, ideally in a multi-national environment
  • FMCG / Retail / Pharmaceutical corporate experience
  • Managing complex change and value creation
  • Hands on experience of best practice/world class accounting, tax, corporate restructuring, corporate finance
  • Strong and high profile leader, beyond the finance function
  • Successfully building finance function capability through hiring, mentoring/coaching and development of talent
  • Credible leader in relationships with external stakeholders: banks, investors, financial press
  • Understands functions and responsibilities of the board of directors, ideally across multiple jurisdictions
  • Understanding and experience of international economic, political, legal and regulatory environments and how they affect the operations of international companies
  • Ideally, experience of working with private equity stakeholders
  • Proficient in English and Arabic

Salary and Benefits

$250,000 plus Benefits. The package will reflect the seniority of the responsibilities.
