The Role

  • My client is looking for an Associate - Risk Management, you will be responsible for supporting the Group Risk function, to manage and enhance the risk management framework and to take a leading role in ensuring that the risks faced by the business at Group, Fund and Partner Company levels are identified, owned, assessed, managed, monitored and reported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and enhance on an ongoing basis the risk management framework covering strategic, external, regulatory, financial and operational risks.
  • As part of the process, work with all functions to ensure the development, enhancement and review of policies, procedures, systems and controls to mitigate risks and monitor disciplined adherence.
  • Encourage and drive good risk management practices across Group functions and regions to enable early identification and the management of risk.
  • Perform and review risk assessments at the Group, Fund and Partner Company level to enable effective and standardized reporting of all risks.
  • Support the Head of Risk in providing periodic reports to the Group CEO and the Group Risk and Compliance Committee on risk management issues.
  • Maintain and develop the Group's GRC system - inputting and maintaining risks, controls and actions across all areas of the business.
  • Support Global Markets with due diligence requests from prospective investors and in developing presentations or other collateral in relation to the Group's risk management practices.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Related professional qualification (CFA, CPA, IRM, CIA etc).
  • At least 5 years of risk management experience, preferably within a Top Tier Global Financial Services, Asset Management or M&A context. Experience of the Private Equity industry is beneficial.
  • Experience working with or from global growth markets. (Europe, UK, US etc.)
  • Understanding of M&A processes both pre- and post-acquisition (screening, due diligence, financial analysis, portfolio risk, hedging, value creation etc).
  • Ability to discuss sensitive and contentious issues with a broad range of stakeholders and provide advice in a commercial and pragmatic manner.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, team-working, stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
  • Strong report writing (in English) skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of reliability, integrity and confidentiality.
  • A commercial mindset that will effectively reconcile risk management with strategic business objectives.
  • Desire to take ownership for projects and outcomes.
