The Company

  • Robert Half is currently working with a very large US multi-national in Dubai within the Manufacturing sector. They are looking for a Compliance Director to head up the function throughout the Middle East.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle, as lead investigator, complex major investigations on potential violations of law and policy (eg anti-bribery, antitrust, code of ethics and related internal policies) across the Middle East, and provide support on others investigations to business investigation teams
  • Lead cross-functional legal and compliance audits across the Middle East
  • Lead, direct and implement compliance program enhancement initiatives and process improvements (in particular related to anti-bribery, antitrust, code of ethics and related internal policies) in the Middle East, both internally and towards 3rd parties (agents, distributors) ensuring strategic and risk-based business alignment
  • Implement a strategy to educate senior management, middle management and other employees who need specialized training on top legal and compliance risks in order to prevent and root out misconduct, whether legal, ethical or otherwise
  • Ensure compliance is built in to local initiatives and management is adequately trained on laws, regulations, and responsibilities and oversee compliance review committees
  • Partner with headquarters and businesses to stay abreast of changes in regulations and recommend changes to operations and processes, as appropriate, to ensure continued compliance and risk mitigation

Candidate Requirements

  • Circa 10 years' compliance experience within a multinational business, enforcement agency or a well-respected consultancy
  • Experience within the GCC
  • Proven ability to work with all levels of management
  • Ability to master key compliance risk areas (preventive program development, enforcement and/or investigations) including antitrust, anti-bribery regulations (FCPA/UK Bribery Act), accounting
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as within a cross functional team environment
  • Practical approach with a "can do" attitude, polite but firm: confident and seasoned leader with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and function effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluent in English; Arabic preferred, but not a must
